It is rather easy to get confused with French door and side-by-side refrigerators, because both designs do have similarities. French door models have a freezer compartment below two side-by-side doors, and that’s the basic difference as compared to side-by-side refrigerators. You can find French door refrigerators that have three or four doors, of which the refrigerator portion is on the top, while the other door(s) work as a freezer drawer. If you come across a 4-door French door refrigerator, chances are high that it has one freezer compartment, while other one might be a convertible one or may offer preset temperature.
